Microsoft borrows Apple Store concepts

This shows that Microsoft has a fundamental misunderstanding of their own product. No one buys Windows or a PC because of the name Microsoft, or because they think they’re particularly well-designed or good-looking products, people buy PCs because they need a computer that is cheap and will do what they need it to do. The method of buying a computer for the average PC buyer is the same as for a new refrigerator or dishwasher. Microsoft will never be able to beat Apple at their own game of selling to “hip” people, the upper-middle-class, and people that work in some kind of design.

They don’t really understand what they’re trying to accomplish, but they know the other side has done well with it. Something working well for someone else doesn’t mean that it will do anything for you.
